Receptionist (Part time) [United Kingdom]

Location: London, NW10

Hours per week: 7 hours per week, Mondays 9am – 5pm, possibility to be increased to 10.5 hours per week which can be discussed at interview stage. There is also an opportunity for overtime covering annual leave and short-term absences.

Salary: £24,000 per annum FTE (£4,800.00 pro-rata)

We offer expert veterinary care, rescue and rehoming services, programmes in the community and guidance and support to improve the lives of dogs and cats in need.

We are recruiting a part-time Receptionist who shares our compassion and commitment for animal welfare. Our reception is a pivotal part of the service we provide to our community, being the first point of contact for our service users, either in person, over the phone or emails. Our reception team provide up-to-date information on our services and ensure everyone is referred to the right department/colleagues. No two days are the same in our busy reception, this role would suit someone who thrives in this type of environment.

The team currently consists of one part-time, permanent employee covering Tuesday – Saturday with the support of weekly volunteers. You will be joining a team that is very supportive of each other and our colleagues in other departments and of course the dogs and cats that come through our doors.

The post holder will be joining Mayhew at an exciting time. Ambitious plans are in development to raise Mayhew’s profile and deliver our strategic objectives over the coming years so we can broaden reach and deepen impact for dogs, cats, pet owners and communities. We feel the urgency of soaring demand for our vital work and feel relentless in our commitment to rise to meet it.

Generally, you will:

  • Assist members of the public and service users, providing information and sign posting
  • Complete request forms via telephone or face to face
  • Greet visitors to Mayhew and contacting the relevant team member of their arrival.
  • Work with and supporting reception volunteers during their shift.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience working in a reception/advice hub service or similar setting.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • A calm, caring and professional manner
  • Good command of MS Office and willingness to learn to use our in-house bespoke software
