Information about the position

You will be joining the Points domain as a Staff Engineer, where we are building our own shipping network to enable consumers across Europe to ship parcels sustainably at competitive prices. In this role, you'll be an impactful engineering leader who will work on driving the technical strategy and approach. You will help product teams see and contribute to the broader picture and challenges, effectively communicate across the company and help to ensure that our solutions are scalable and performant.

You will report to the Engineering Director as your manager and work very closely with other staff engineers within Vinted Go and Vinted.

Here are some of the technologies we use: Ruby, Rails, MySQL, Vitess, Redis, Kafka, Prometheus, Grafana, Nginx, git, Jenkins, Docker, Datadog, Kubernetes, Chef, Next.js, React.

In this position, you'll

• Work closely with engineers within the Vinted Go Points domain
• Collaborate with leadership to set the best practices for software engineering.
• Collaborate with other domains regarding overarching deliveries and common technical responsibilities.
• Be a voice of the engineering team and a technical leader when it comes to initiating and supporting projects across the domain and the whole organisation.
• Create and maintain a technical roadmap for the domain, and ensure that the teams in the domain are involved in executing the technical roadmap.
• Collaborate with other developers through GitHub pull requests and code reviews
• See your code deployed to a wide variety of environments, from internal web applications to physical parcel lockers on the streets of Europe. Where possible, our master branch gets rolled out straight to production on each merge. We deploy multiple times per day.
• Work with Ruby on Rails, MySQL and many more technologies. We don't expect you to be familiar with any of them beforehand.
• Work with code that can handle more than 20 million shipments per month. Monitor our deployed code through Kibana, Grafana, DataDog and new tools that you will introduce!

About you

• You have experience working as a technical engineering leader who can strategise, lead, and execute company-wide technical projects.
• You can effectively communicate complex technical goals to audiences both inside and outside the company.
• You can drive a clear architectural vision with the ability to collaborate and iterate on software design.
• You are excellent at communicating in spoken and written English.
• You are willing to take on new challenges and constantly grow as an engineer and leader.
