A Quantity Surveyor (QS) :
Job Description:
1- Preparing cost estimates, analyzing data, and creating budgets.
2- Track expenses, review invoices, manage variations, and ensure that the project stays within the approved budget.
3- Assess and mitigate financial risks associated with construction projects.
4- Liaising with clients to identify their needs
5- Estimating quantities, costs and time scales for material and labour
6- Preparing tender and contract documents
7- Identifying and weighing up commercial risks
8- Assigning work to subcontractors
9- Valuing completed work, managing budgets and overseeing payments
10-Ensuring projects meet legal and quality standards
11-Ensuring that clients get value for their money
12- Advising on the maintenance costs of specific buildings
13- Submitting regular budget reports
14- Following building regulations and health and safety
15- Working at a client’s business, in an office or on a construction site.
Requirements:
Education: A bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction economics, or a related field.
Technical knowledge: understanding of construction techniques, materials, and costs. Must be proficient in cost estimation software, spreadsheets, and project management tools.
Analytical and numerical skills: analytical and mathematical abilities
5+ years of experience as a quantity surveyor
