Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual to take on the Manager for Collection Development and Access role. Are you passionate about library services and collections contributing to student and researcher success? Are you a strategic thinker with vision and strong leadership skills? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping our comprehensive collections to evolve and respond to institutional needs and the changing scholarly publishing environment.
In addition, this role collaborates closely with other managers in the division to take collective responsibility for managing the service alongside the Lead team.
This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week role, on a permanent contract. The remuneration is $107,800 - $125,800 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.

Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team
The Collection Development and Access Team manages and provides access to scholarly electronic and audio-visual resources, as well as the physical collections in the General Library, Davis Law Library, Philson Library, Sylvia Ashton Warner Libraries and the On-Demand Collection to our clients.
He kōrero mōu | About you
A strong background in library services and collection development is essential to succeed in this position, along with demonstrated expertise in leading teams. In addition, the following abilities and knowledge are important:
- Proficiency in change management and experience in operational planning and implementation.
- Building and maintaining relationships and partnerships across the University.
- Objectively analyse processes, systems and services to align with resourcing and sustainability.
- Articulate your understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and display some knowledge of te reo Māori and tikanga and how you integrate that into your work.
Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of driving innovative solutions.
- A proactive and results-oriented mindset, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to foster an environment of collegiality, respect, and teamwork.
- Experience in preparing and managing budgets.
