Job Description:

The Business & Systems Consultant has deep knowledge of a wide variety of business concepts, practices, and procedures as they relate to IT and general operations; they rely on their expertise, experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, and to perform a variety of tasks. The Business & Systems Consultant conducts needs analysis, writes user stories, collaborates with others for system design; and supports squads to increase productivity and reduce costs.

What will you do?

• Facilitates the identification of business and IT process improvements, system design, testing and implementation of solutions

• Works collaboratively with Squad members to address high-priority backlog items

• Works with the the team to conduct analysis on business requests with a focus on the links between processes and systems throughout the organization

• Analyzes and documents how systems, processes, procedures and clients will be impacted by future development

• Works with the team to facilitate requirements interviews and workshops

• Analyzes and defines user requirements and translate them into system requirements/user stories

• Creates and/or provides input into internal and external communications and user documentation

• Reviews and provides feedback to business and technical documentation

• Works with business on the roll out of what has been developed. and analysis on client impacts.

• Supports testing with a focus on end to end validation

What do you need to succeed?

• Experienced in or excited to learn Agile way of working

• University degree in business or technology or equivalent experience

• 5 to 10 years of progressive experience as a Business Consultant/Business Systems Consultant

• 5 to 10 years of varying requirements gathering techniques

• Skilled at finding hidden requirements, edge cases, and a “desire to break” attitude

• Knowledge of overall financial services industry

• Deep knowledge of relevant business, processes, systems and capabilities

• Good understanding of privacy, compliance, control and security requirements

• Skilled in test execution and understanding the outcomes

• Strong analytical skills

• Comfortable with data requirements and related data activities

• Strong communication skills with ability to communicate both complex business and technical concepts and align organization on decisions

• Sound problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly process complex information and present it clearly and simply

• Strong interpersonal / relationship building skills with technical and business personnel

• Passionate about the client, technology and excited about the impact of emerging / disruptive technologies

• Can act in an advisory capacity as well as coach/mentor Business Analysts

• Strong Miro knowledge

• User experience design

• Transformational system work, moving from legacy system to modern system

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
