We are looking for a Software Development Manager to steer to teams according to roadmaps and work with a brave and agile approach in Helsinki.

YOUR ROLE

Your key role is to help our teams deliver LeadDesk solutions and lead multiple developer teams. The role consists of being a people manager for your team of engineers and leading your developer teams to deliver based on roadmaps which in turn leads to building our amazing products. A successful Software Development Manager takes ownership of the work and is able to juggle problem-solving, prioritizing, ensuring resources, making plans and schedules, communicating team plans and fostering an environment of technical excellence by facilitating architectural discussions and decision making.

Other responsibilities include hiring and growing happy and healthy teams by keeping the teams motivated and inspired. You will focus on mentoring a team of high performing developers with a particular focus on career and professional development. This will make your team members stronger, more efficient and outcome focused. You will be running a continuous weekly 1:1 practice and removing blockers for your teams ensuring their well-being and fixing any issues that arise. Just as you hold weekly meetings you will also report weekly progress to VP of Engineering. Own what your teams are building, from implementation to ready release bundle. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork, and drive knowledge sharing across teams. There will be close collaboration with the product managers, customer success managers and designers to shape the direction of your product. You will also work with delivery teams and external stakeholders to communicate the “why” and establishing clarity and accountability on current and future work.

The ideal candidate has the ability to influence and communicate with internal and external stakeholders alike. You think clearly, solve problems fast and have a technical background. What we'd like to have from you:

  • Excellent communications skills, fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • 2+ years of experience managing software engineering team
  • Experience leading and managing a team of developers
  • Preferably, experience building software powered products operated as SaaS
  • Ability to prioritize and plan in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive can-do attitude and enthusiasm to learn new
  • Experience facilitating technical discussions
  • Passionate about user experience and operational excellence
  • Experience in building and scaling teams and processes in fast-growing companies
  • Experience working in an agile work environment
  • A team-oriented mindset and enjoy working in a diverse environment with distributed teams
  • Have interviewing experience and understand hiring
  • Experience with day-to-day people management including performance management
  • A good coach: You catalyze growth and development while empowering others and do not micromanage
  • Result-oriented: You're a pragmatic, data-driven decision-maker, with a people-centered and systems thinking approach to engineering management
